Saffron: Can it Cure Cancer

Scientists Are Convinced of Its Potency

On Sardinia, an island off the coast of Italy, the Saffron Crocus bulbs are planted once a year in August and September. They are harvested in November. The blossoms are quite difficult to harvest. One must bend down and pick them, one by one, by hand, being careful not to damage the red stigmas of the blossoms. They are harvested each morning, rain or shine. Photo: Anna Tatti, Sardinia
