New Competition for 2001-2002 academic year Fulbright grants available to Newly Independent States: Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan.Twelve Fulbright Full Grants will provide opportunities for students who want to study or do research in the NIS for the 2001-2002 academic year. Applications will be accepted in all fields of study and are due May 11, 2001. Grants are for ten months.
Preference is for graduating seniors; Master's candidates; those enrolled in Ph.D. programs, but not yet admitted to candidacy, young professionals and artists. Language proficiency commensurate with the purposes of the Fulbright Program and sufficient to carry out the proposed course of study or research is expected at the time of application.
Selection of Fellows will be made by priority order, based on the quality of the applications, rather than per country quotas, making the distribution of awards to countries in the region differ annually.
