Fellowships George Washington University Elliott School of International Affairs C.V. Starr Fellows Program for Mid-Career Professionals The George Washington University's Elliott School of International Affairs will be awarding fellowships to allow a small number of mid-career professionals from Eastern Europe, Russia, the former Soviet Republics, South Asia, Latin America and Africa to pursue the Master of International Policy and Practice program during the 2001-2002 academic year. The fellowships, made possible by a generous grant from the Starr Foundation, will range from half- to full-tuition awards. Recipients must be able to cover their own living and travel expenses. Application Applications for the Starr Fellows program are due by April 15, 2001. Candidates who would like to be considered for other fellowships at George Washington University should apply by January 1, 2001. GREs are strongly recommended but not required. A TOEFL score of 600 is usually required for admission. The competition for both the fellowships and admission to the M.I.P.P. program is extremely competitive. The M.I.P.P. The M.I.P.P. is an intensive, one-year degree program for mid-career professionals. It prepares international affairs professionals to understand complex global trends, make informed decisions about their organizations' future, analyze and forecast international events. M.I.P.P. candidates take three core courses: one in international politics, one in international economics, and one exclusive seminar that engages participants in discussions with prominent guest speakers from international business, the policy community, the international media, and the nonprofit sector. Remaining coursework is tailored to participants' individual needs. M.I.P.P. candidates can concentrate on a wide range of related subjects including international business, economics, politics, development, security policy, or science and technology policy. M.I.P.P. candidates may also choose to study the dynamics of a particular region, such as Latin America or Asia, or the international aspects of U.S. policy.
