Humboldt University, Berlin, with the financial support of the Volkswagen Stiftung, announces a 2 year postgraduate MA program "Central Asia / Caucasia" for which up to 20 applicants will be accepted. Scholarships available.Three main topics
Human Action in Natural Space
Identities - History - Politics
Myth and Reality of the Silk Road
will be studied in a multidisciplinary approach that includes geography, history and culture, economics, law, and politics. Students will qualify for jobs in international organizations, consulting, and information as well as for academic careers.The program of studies starts in April 2001 and includes 3 semesters of academic training and a 3 months internship in the region. The degree will be completed by a 3 months-long period spent preparing a master's thesis.
Teaching staff includes specialists from six renowned German universities and research institutions. Intensive training in selected local languages is included.
Successful applicants will have a B.A. or higher academic degree and a good basic knowledge of German (Please ask about additional facilities). Applications by students from the region itself are particularly welcome.
