A Novruz table prepared by Narges Abadi in the tradition of Azerbaijanis from Iran. The traditional table includes at least seven items that start with the Persian letter "sin" (s). These include sabzi (sprouted grain), seeb (apple), serke (vinegar), somakh (a lemon-flavored spice for meat), sir (garlic), sonbol (hyacinth), senjed (a dry date-like fruit), saat (clock), and sekke (coins). The traditional table may also include candles, goldfish, colored eggs, mirror, sweets, flowers, dried fruit and nuts. Los Angeles.  Betty Blair
